Sassy is my brand-spanking new Janome Memory Craft 6600P sewing/quilting machine that I received for Christmas and OH MY GOODNESS, she rocks!!! I have been sewing on a Huskystar 219 which works perfectly fine for basic piecing but gets a little wonky for heavy duty sewing.
Here are a few of my favorite things about the 6600:
- a knee lifter that raises the presser foot
- an automatic bobbin winder
- an automatic needle threader
- 13 included presser feet
- an easy to understand user manual
- custom stitch programming
- pretty much any decorative stitch you could dream of (patchwork, applique, quilting, etc.)
- twin needle sewing (i don't know why i need this, but i'm sure i do!)
- pretty green lcd display
Brad, Kate, and I are driving from Dallas today to visit his family at their home in Angel Fire, New Mexico.
Of course I had to play with my sewing machine before we left, so last night I made Kate a scoodie (scarf/hoodie combo) to keep her ears and neck toasty. Plus, it was a great test run of the sewing machine!
Looking forward to spending time with family, sledding, skiing, and playing in the snow.

Merry Christmas Eve, everyone! :) This afternoon I whipped up Kate a fun tutu to prance around the house in. I have to credit the scissor work to my sister, Amanda. She's a master tulle-snipper.
I've also been working on that quilt for my friend's daughter. Here's the quilt top (not ironed yet; ignore that part). I just have to do the batting, backing, binding, and quilting. Piece of cake, right? I'll post more pictures as I move along.
Now I think it's time to play with the family and maybe have a few pomegrante martinis... mmm!

Recently, I began quilting. So far, I've made a quilt for Kate:
And one for my sister, Amanda (who flies in tomorrow from Virginia Beach to see us for Christmas - woo hoo!):
Right now I'm working on a toddler quilt for my friend's darling daughter (another Kate!). For it, I have been using this fantastic tutorial for "super circles" by Anna Maria Horner.
Anyway, I guess that's a start :) Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanza/Hanukkah/etc...
